JUNIOR PRIMARY
SPORTS ACADEMY
Sports Academy at Scottsville School is where the foundation of sporting codes begin. The variety of sport offered at Sport Academy are also included the Senior Primary sports program.
Our focus is to expose learners to as many sporting codes possible, thus, allowing them to identify the sport(s) that they most enjoy.
During Sports Academy (Grade 1 and 2 sports), inclusivity is the main objective. For this period of the child’s development, we are not ‘result driven’. Instead, we aim to instill the basics of all the sports offered by the school, thus allowing for each child the opportunity to experience all the sports offered at our school.
Sports Academy is where we prepare the Junior Primary learners for competitive sports, which during internal and external matches, they encounter from Grade 3 and upwards.
During Sports Academy, we practice a rotational system when it comes to who attends matches. This rotation method ensures everyone gets equal opportunity to play matches. Later, at Senior Primary level, learners are selected for matches according to their skills.
Sports help learners to develop their motor skills, balance, strength, co-ordination, agility and health. It has been scientifically proven that sports help learners to perform better in class. A fit child is a sharp and attentive student.
